I would only be interested in a CPO warranty, I've had nothing but negative experiences with aftermarket warranties. I've not had a carmax warranty though.
CPO should give peace of mind. The expenses (tires and fluids) on a weekend vehicle are minimal in relationship to the car that you would be driving.

Okay, 997.1 cab with 67K miles and so far for the calendar year I have spent ~$6K on tires, service, oil change and replacement ramps for convertible top. I use the dealer so I'm sure the costs were a little more than an indie however I get the 2 years parts and labor warranty.

Holy smokes I'd be crying if I had to spend that much on my car on maintenance annually! I have an 09 C4 and all I've had to do is regular maintenance items. I just sold my 2004 BMW 545 that I had spent $6K to replace two major gaskets - and my wife just about killed me for spending that much on the Bimmer (that has had many more shop visits than my Pcar).

Of course we got a Tesla to replace the BMW - and that has zero maintenance LOL. (except for brakes and wiper fluid - and no I'm not paying $600 for their annual "inspection"!!)

Yeah, but I also have no car payments. So that's about $500/month for the E55.
