I also agree 100% with the article.
My biggest complaint of the 997 C4s is the fact that it looks too much like a C2s. It doesn't have the ground effects, the noticeable width difference (key word: noticeable), or the reflector in the back that connects the tail lights (which was Porsche genius IMO; so simple, but so nice and important). Also, who in Souther California and Florida, which makes up the majority of the market, needs AWD?? It does seem that the success of the 996 C4s is all due to it's unique looks.
Porsche messed up with this car.

people who bought the last C4S wanted a 996Turbo look alike... but i think that is the reason why Porsche did not do it this time... they wanted to reserve the special body work for the Turbo and Turbo alone... and that way people buying the 997Turbo would feel more exclusive... honestly i couldn't tell any difference from 20 feet away between the 996C4S and 996 Turbo... and that just might be the flaw for putting such a similar frontal design on a lesser car... makes the expensive one less unique... thats my 0.02...

I remember thinking that 996 TT owners must be pissed about the fact that the C4S looks so much like their car(plus it has the reflector on the back - LOVE IT). So I see why this time around Porsche decided to further differentiate the TT with the C4S. On that note, keeping the 997 S and 4S very similar in looks makes sense too. However, in terms of looks, Porsche could have further differentiated the 4S (besides the extra width).
I guess it's just the fact that we're used to the C4S looking so special and now it isn't. Kind of a degression vs. progression.
Totally disagree! We are all sold out on the C4S Cars coupe and cab.(Porsche of Orlando) The regular C4 though is a tough sale in my opinion because you can get a Carrera S for the money. The car does not look that much different I agree but it kind of goes back to the 94 Carrera 4 that came with the widebody standard and thats pretty cool. Also who can disagree that those real fenders are drop dead gorgeous and way more attractive than the 996 rear. Just my 0.02.
