4S is bit heavier, a bit wider, a bit less storage space in the frunk.
Otherwise, personal choice.
Both are great

Personally I think the fat *** thing is out of control. Give me a nice tight package every time

As to OP's query, 4wd comes with higher parasitic hp losses due to drive train, greater complexity and more weight.

At track there are pro's and cons. In snow the low front end is the limiting factor not the drive train. On the street
it's not necessary, what with the high mechanical traction the rear engine offers. I'd say 'pass'.

To me the WB looks over-done.... Thought about it a lot and spent a lot of time staring at a$$es. To me the NB looks more natural and represents how the Porsche designers wanted the 997 to look - Then they tacked on the extra inches to make a WB. NB looks more pure to my eye. Plus like the purity of steering and mechanical simplicity as well. My A4 is Quattro and that is my snow car.

My username says it all for me. Im an azz guy always have been and im sure I always will be. Havent ever driven the 2s but ive always enjoyed watching a 4S do fly bys. I have zero track experience and that may change some day but not any time soon. Mines an 09 c4s I live in the Midwest where there is plenty of snow. The 09 is my baby so the explorer sees all the bad weather. As far as the 2s vs 4s I personally chose the 4s not only for the looks (which I prefer) but piece of mind. Knowing if I were to take a corner to fast that possibly the front end would help in sure id make the turn. As far as the weight issue of 2s vs 4s im a realist. I don't drag race nor do I put the car on a track where the weight reduction would come into play. Its parked 6 mos. out of the year or when I have time from my busy schedule to get it out on the weekend to take out on some curvy roads. I think most would be happy with either vehicle just because its a Porsche.

Interesting video showing testing between 997.2 Carrera 2, 2S, 4, 4S. It's in japanese, but the tests and race battle are fun to watch.

Start watching video from 30 min mark to 50 min. enjoy!

That was cool, did they say what the lap times were for the different variants?

So 911 4wd S beat the 911 rwd S, but rwd 911 beat 4wd 911. Track seemed moist w poor traction for rwd cars. Pretty sure he said 'see you later alligator' when he passed Nissan and left it in last. That much I could understand
