Vapor Canister - DIY?

Anyone ever replace their Vapor Canister? I need some DIY instruction if anyone has them. I was quoted 2 hours by the stealership so it should not be too complicated.

Thanks in advance.

This looks pretty easy. I cannot believe the dealership considers this a 2 hour job.

Anyone know how to remove the bracket that holds the Vapor Canister in place? It appears the instructions are for the C2 and not a C4. I cannot find any screws that hold the Bracket in place. They seem to be behind the unit there is no way to get to them.

Remove the frunk trim linings. There are two torx screws on the front of the vapor canistor bracket. After that you just pry it off with a plastic trim bar. It looks like there is a plastic "catch" of sorts on the back of the bracket that locks onto the metal wall between the frunk area and the battery area.

You might have to remove the CD changer first if you have that option installed.

edit: sorry, C2 here. Just reread you are looking for C4 instructions.
edit 2: dont' see any differences for C2 vs C4 in the workshop manual, only USA vs ROW versions

OK, more digging. The vapor canister itself is the same part number 997.201.221.03. 2WD models use a different bracket and vent line than the 4WD models.

The 2WD bracket looks like this, notice the two screw holds on the top just like in the workshop manual:

The 4WD bracket looks like this. Notice the lack of screw holes on the front, but two on the back. The third spot is the catch that prys off with a trim bar. So the mounting screws are on the backside. Access is probably from the battery compartment side. Not sure if you need to remove the battery to get to them or not.

That last Bracket looks like mine, but there are no Screws on the backside of the wall near the Battery. I can see in there and I do not see how or where I can access the screws holding the bracket. Below are pics...not my car though.....

Odd, try removing the lid to the canister. There are clips along all the sides. The bracket is not attached at the top of the lid, it just sits in those holes. You should be able to bend the bracket just enough to slide the lid off.

Once off see if there are any screws behind the canister. PET calls out qty 2 M6x25 screws for 2WD, and qty 2 M8x18 screws for 4WD. But I've seen areas where PET has been wrong before (TPMS antenna mounting brackets for example).

Im not sure that will work since I cannot get to the Clip on the backside.

Old post I know.....but I did not see a resolution (for a C4S which my wife has).....and, as I'm sure most know, the canister is no longer available from Porsche.
There appears to be a couple aftermarket products.
