997.2 Key Buttons

I had searched this topic previously after the lock / unlock button had broken on my key for my 997.2.

After checking with my local dealer and being told my only option was to order a new key, I took to ebay.

I found a perfect "knock off" and removed the buttons and used them. I wanted to make people aware, as it cost $12.95 compared to $180.00 for a new key head.

The only thing that should be noted, the key I bought had no Porsche logo, although it appears that it would be easy enough to take the badge off the old key and affix it neatly to the neat one.

The key can be found here for interested parties:

Are you using the new key? Or did you remove the buttons from the EBAY bought key and replace the broken buttons on the original? I have the same issue and looking for a cheap fix.

I took the entire top half of the ebay key and the rubber from the inside (it was the same as the Porsche and it was worn on my original OEM key), and snapped it on. Voila, worked like a charm.

You could also remove the circuit board from your OEM key and use the entire new key, but I didn't need to do so...bottom half of my OEM key was in great shape.

Look in Ebay! I found one a while back for $16.00 and it came with the crest. It was a great replacement. I think the seller is located in Florida. Here is the link.

I just received the one suggested by the OP today. I just removed the main lock/unlock button and swapped it into my unit. Perfect fix!!! Thanks OP!

Unfortunately that kit is only available for 997.1 keys, and this thread is specifically about 997.2 keys - there doesn't seem to be any Porsche OE solution for this.

The key kit suggested by the OP provides all the parts of the Suncoast kit and more - the new button is indistinguishable from the original, other than not being broken!

Does anyone know if the 997.1 grey fob key buttons fit into the 997.2 black key fob? My lock/unlock button is held in with shipping tape, and it would be nice to have replacement OEM key buttons for peace of mind.
