peeling climate control switches/buttons ?

I know on earlier porsches, the black surface on the fascia buttons (a.c., fan, etc.) tend to peel.

I wonder if this is a problem with the 997.2 ?

Just wondering how mine might hold up. Car is a 2011 C4S, all perfect so far.

Don't think its an issue with 997.2's and late 997.1 as they moved to a different type of paint.

hope you're right;
I have been treating mine delicately, trying not to touch the symbols or words, but I guess I can start acting normally again

I replaced mine with the newer version. No evidence of peeling.

Kellen, when did Porsche start putting the 'newer version' in the 911? Or what year models have the newer version?

Mine was removed from a 2008 cayman. I think some new style made it to the 2008 997s, but it was a mixed bag. Think the same time the button changed from ECO to AC OFF.

When mine started peeling I got the full AC controls from car-part.com for 165 or so. Just swapped the front part over. No issues 6 months or so later. Can tell the difference in the paint, seems like the plastic is black, not just painted black.

Save some cash and paint the ones you have, just mask of the symbols with vinyl letters before you do it. I bought 3mm vinyl letters from a model shop and it worked a treat
