My shifter cable decided to break over the weekend and needs to be replaced. Actually, it didn't break; one of the rod ends on the gearbox side is worn out and popped of the ball end. Anyway, does anyone have advise on how to get the rubber grommet under the hand brake out and back in again. Mine seems to be welded/gorilla glued in. Thanks...

 

I pushed mine from the inside of the car. I used a hammer flipped backwards and used the hammer handle to push the rubber out. It did take a lot of effort to do so, but just wait till you try to put it back in

Do you have C2 or C4? The AWD prop shaft will be in the way if you have a C4 and I would strongly recommend you remove it to push the rubber piece back in.

BTW, get a silicone spray and spray liberally all around the rubber and also along the 3 cables that go through it. Same for the installation.
