new airbox x-51

Does anyone in the throngs of devotees know if the new double intake carbon fibre air box can be installed on a 3.8 engine without x-50.

Not sure if you know this, but the X51 airbox has twin air inlets, whereas the stock 3.8 has a single air inlet on the engine cover. Seems like a lot of trouble to replace the engine cover too for whatever thrill you would get from a carbon fiber airbox.

Are you trying to create a counterfeit X51?

No Paul, i called the twin inlets "double intake" pardon me. In the February Excellance they call them twin ducts. I don't particularly like the carbon look it adds nothing to performance.

I never would try to be cool my only motive is to improve performance, hence the thread.

By itself, I wouldn't expect a performance lift from the airbox alone, and boy would it be an expensive proposition. The X51 has different headers, throttle body, heads, cams, ecu and Porsche sport exhaust in addition to the carbon fiber airbox. I imagine there are (or will be) air intake and header packages on the 3.8 like there were on the 996's. I'd be surprised if they copied the dual air inlets of the X51 airbox due to the engine cover changes/fabrication required.
