I bought my first Porsche when I was 41. I've had a Porsche for a daily driver ever since then.

I for one have enjoyed this thread. Thanks REKX for starting it. We all have our reasons for acquiring our P-cars, some for pleasure, some for performance, and some are deeply personal. Thanks to those willing to share those reasons!

Great thread. I like being the senior citizen who bought a 997.1c2s at age 65 instead of my 8th new Corvette. It looked and felt more like the car I wanted and seven months have proved I was right.

It's amazing to see how much the 911 has maintained it's physical DNA over 43 years of evolution of these amazing cars, despite the significant difference between a 2.0l flat 6/130 HP engine in 1968 versus a 3.8l flat 6/385 HP engine in 2010

I have a similar story to yours. I bought my first Porsche when I was 23/24 and it was a 1968 911L. It had everything I wanted, 3.0L SC motor, 911SC brakes and suspension. Sold it a few years later and have regretted it every day for the last 8 years.

However, I just bought a 997.1 C2S last year and absolutely love it. I call it a modern classic. It's not as raw as my old hot rodded 911, but it's raw enough for a newer car and so much fun as my daily.

I would trade it any day for an old SWB 911 though.
