I'm kinda torn between the two. Is the performance similar? I would only consider a 6mt.

 

How do you measure performance? I know that there are many ways to answer this question. You could look at straight line acceleration, where they are pretty close. You could also look at HP or torque. You could look at track times.

I think you need to drive both and then decide. The 996 turbo has a fantastic engine and gobs of torque. It's a great car. The 997 has a vastly improved suspension, vastly improved interior and more updated electronics. For a daily driver, I would choose the 997.

 

I agree with everything you said Dennis. I'll try and see if I can test drive a 997.2 s at my local Porsche dealer.
