New LED tail light version II coming soon
#31
I think the originals look better than any of the aftermarket. Easy switch out so you can go back if you change but something bugs me about these LED lights. Maybe its because they are cheap and every cheap car has them now. Same goes for sftermarket headlights. bizenon, hid, and incandescent lights will be the thing of fine cars in the future. Only hyundais etc will use the cheap glare producing LED's. Can you tell that all these jerks in hondas and other crap always want to race just because they are next to a 911?...lol

Here are my Depo's they are real nice but my only complaint is when you brake it only lights up half the led's or this pattern ] [ and not the whole thing. I like the version you got as the whole thing lights up. Is the brake light a strip of LEDs? or the does the whole light bar get brighter?

I have them for about a year now & it's still held up very well. So far no burn out on any LED's. Overall, I'm satisfy with them. I thought about the smoked version but wasn't sure how dark it is. I can always tint the clear part.
park light (photo looks orange but it's red in person)
foglight & parklights (Foglight are LED's not incandescent bulb like other set)
brake lights (single strip & plenty bright IMO)
blinkers
reverse brightness in dark

All I can say is....keep your originals. Mark my words....when clean 997's become the collectables I feel they will...the originals will be what is important. The 997.1 is the last 911 to have incandescent tails and it is a signpost that will be important down the road. same goes for all the led's that are being modded into headlights and interiors. There is a reason why Porsche design is respected. Why not put Led headlights in a 356? Blasphemy IMO.

Thanks for posting these pictures, I always worry that the brake lights aren't bright enough in daylight but now that I see it, they are good enough.... might have to order a pair for my self....
Any error codes ?

I'm way ahead of you. Kept all my stock parts this time. Learned my lesson when I traded my 996 with all the goodies & they offered me less with aftermarket parts.
nope. built-in resistors & one plug & play

i just tried these out but got the slightly smoked ones instead (worried about the bling factor on the center LEDs). Too dark for my taste. Black on black looks a little too racer for me and significantly hindered the brightness of the lights in daylight. I like the lightbar look though a lot.
Also: I consistently got a rear fog warning light and the rear fog wouldn’t stay on for more than 2 seconds. I have no idea how to fix that.

I’ve had Spec-D taillights for over a year. My car is mostly a garage queen and gets only couple thousand miles a year. However, the lights work flawlessly with no error messages. The LEDs look great in the night.

I bought the Spec-d tail lights and was a bit sceptical if I really like them when I ordered.
Have them now installed for a week and LOVE the look!
Not that I care or was shooting to fake a newer car but I was asked four times this week if my 997 is the new 2020 Porsche model.
They usually look shocked when I respond that this is a 13 year old car.

I recently purchased and installed the Spec-D tail lights for my 06 Carrera S and it triggered an error message "Please check reverse light bulb". Anyone know of a fix for that?
Thanks
Thanks

I do recall mine came on for a very short time and went away, haven’t had an issue since. However, for some reason when I got my last major maintenance the shop wrote in reverse lights non-operable. But there are no warning light and the reverse lights are working fine. I’m thinking it gave off some kind of code when they hooked up their scanner. I wouldn’t worry about it, it will likely go away. If it bothers you that much ask the vendor to swap it out with another one. These lights are sweet, got many compliments.
