I did the BB cross pipes with a 2 inch Gundo hack all at the same time. Loving it and above 2,500 RPM, it will bring tears of joy to your eyes!!!!

Yup, I'm still flip-flopping on either! I don't think I'll go muffler bypass now, the SO still rides along in the 997 a lot and I think they would drive her nuts. I'd hate to have to drive my Jetta more.

I think the BB pipes + gundo would be good, just need to find a shop in my area that knows what gundo is and has done it before.

I was in Mumbai for a week once, I can't imagine you driving a 997 on the highways there!

I am considering running Fister mufflers with a center bypass.

As I mentioned before, I have this same setup. However, the welds on my "hack" don't even come close yours. So whoever did them is a keeper!

I did the center muffler bypass first and was surprised how little difference it made. I think the Gundo is what really makes the difference. I used 2" and cut the bypass to fit the traced it on the muffler pipes and opened up these holes with a carbide grinder to get a maximum opening close to flush with the inside of the x pipe. I took it to a welding shop rather than a muffler or my mechanic friend...... thats why the welds are so good......he charged me 80.... but they do look pretty

I know that in your case this info is after-the-fact but for anyone else who wants to do the grunt work of opening up the holes for the X-pipe please read this...

Haha! I can imagine what you must have thought. But yes it's possible. The city roads are rubbish so driving carefully there and then out onto the valley roads highways which are brilliant!

Also the Porsche's are far better off in handling all kinds of roads as against the Lambo's and Ferrari's.

Finally got around to taking off the mufflers. I drove around a bit yesterday and went on a long top down drive today. Surprisingly not bad at all. Judging by what I was reading I was in for the worst...

I think it's perfectly fine. It doesn't have quite the "scream" I'm looking for, more of a deep tone to it. I'm definitely going to do center muffler delete now. Full straight pipes from the cats back should be pretty sweet. Ordering the pipes this week.

I'll try and get some pipes fabricated by a local shop, hopefully they do it, otherwise I need to figure out if 997.1 bypass pipes would fit somehow. It's literally a 90 degree turn from the center pipes, I have no idea why fabspeed charges a ridiculous amount on the 997.2 pipes vs the 997.1. (/rant, lol).

The sound is nothing compared to the loudness of the straight piped f355 I had, that thing was insane. After 30 minutes your ears would take a beating.

Here's a few vids of the 355 in case anyone likes straight pipes as much as I do.

Billy Boat pipes installed today, super easy. Mufflers were already off so obviously that saved time. All I did was jack one side of the car up - didn't take off the bumper or wheels for the entire install.

I gotta say, if anyone is planning to do side muffler delete, you MUST delete the center muffler too, it sounds so much better. It really doesn't get much louder either. Just sounds a bit more mean. Reversing out of a spot kinda sounds like a growling tiger or something, it's awesome.

I'm sure my neighbors now officially hate me.

I still need to figure out the pipes that come out of the billy boat exhaust, will call a shop next week to see if they can fabricate something. So right now my car looks a bit weird with these huge spaces where the tail pipes should be Pretty ghetto, but that's how I roll sometimes.

Video uploading right now. I'm not sure about the hyperbole about how you can't have a conversation or listen to music. In the video you can clearly hear my radio which is at its normal pre-bypass pipes level, and I could easily talk to my wife. It's also pretty easy to find that sweet spot where it's almost as silent as stock while you are slowly cruising around or are near a cop.

In the end it's not amazingly impressive sound, but it's loud and mean sounding. I think I am spoiled from the 355. There are some nice pops and crackles here and there on decel.
