PCM not coming out
PCM not coming out
I'm trying to take the PCM out to install the tranZit Blu component to the radio unit.
I followed the instructions at
All the fasteners are out, but the damn thing is not budging - no sign of it coming out. In fact, those black things on the top and bottom on both ends have come/fallen out (instead of just a 45 degree turn).
Have folks experienced similar issues? Any known resolution?
Anyone in SF bay area who has done this - or reco on a shop that can help just taking it out (without charging an arm and a leg)?

IIRC, if the cam lock pieces (the plastic holders on the sides of the PCM) fall out, you need to apply pressure to where they seat with a screwdriver or something while pulling the unit forward. Better would be to reinstall the cams (it will take some finagling) and just loosen them enough R to release. Final piece is there is a single small screw (or bolt, don't remember) on the passenger side of the PCM that secures it. Make sure you removed this. It is an oddball but requires removal.
Thanks for the tip guys!! Will try it out again!
I had to remove the cams too, before I could remove the unit. Once out, the cam's spring clips still need to be depressed to clear the catches.
We're also assuming you have removed the one hex-head screw... on the exposed right side of the PCM, if I remember correctly.
