Keep thinking about an R8
Keep thinking about an R8
I’ve been the proud owner of a 997S for years now, absolutely love it, it has been my dream car since I was a kid and it’s a thrill every time I drive it, but every time I see an Audi R8, something happens to me, there is just something about the R8 that talks to me, something special. My question is if anyone has gone from a 911 to an R8 or vice-versa, curious to hear people’s take on this…
Thank you.
Thank you.
Yup!!
Have '03 996 Cabrio and pretty much a rookie(even at 69😳
. Last track day at AZ Motorsports in PHX I had an R8 behind me at the grid. We took off and he smoked me within the first 100 yards. Didn't see him till the last lap 20 minutes later when he blew by me again. Made me a believer. Looked on the internet that night to see if any were available. Saw the near $100K prices and realized my 996 was good enough...for now🙄.

Not if you get the S-Tronic. I have a 2014 V10 plus. The looks are definitely exotic, driving experience is different from a 911, more GT to me, not as lively as a 911. It gets more attention too. Recommend add the R8, don't sell 911 or you will miss it for sure.
I drove one at a petty exotic racing experience. I was impressed. did not use paddle shifters and it was very quick. also appeared to be a good daily driver. My buddy drove a Ferrari 458. don't know if it was the cars or drivers but R8 laps were better and top speed on the short straight was faster. Course turns were very tight and it cornered like a rat in a drain pipe.
It's basically a Lambo Gallardo, that's why it doesn't feel like a 911.
It's good to hear that they have addressed that problem. I drove an earlier V10 with an automatic and it was horrible.

Let me know if you have any specific questions, I personally have driven both stock and modded, I can honestly say they are both a blast to drive in their own way. We even have a 14' V10+ in the shop this week getting a full exhaust install!

As a past Quattro (Non R8 owner), I will tell you the Quattro AWD system far superior to the 997.1 AWD system by a mile.
Certainly less of them around.... If you enjoy attention id say its a better choice.
im trying to find less populated roads where I can enjoy nobody looking at me or being in my way on the road....

As an owner of a 997 tt, and a 2017 R8 V10 plus and previously a 2014 V10 manual and while i owned the 14 R8 i also had a 2010 C4S.. I loved the **** out of the V10 with the manual.. the sound.. just everything about it.. i curse getting rid of it, i really loved it as a daily driver or somehting to blow my mind. But i also love the hell out of my C4S but for different reasons. I actually likes how the porsche drove much more than the R8 but the sound of that V10 and the look of the R8 was just orgasmic lol but it attracted a lot of attention even in Miami lol. the 911 just did its thing and not many people gazing all the time. the 997tt i have now is by far more fun than the 14' R8 V10 i had and the C4S. but the new R8 V10 Plus is again a different kind of monster than my 997 turbo lol that thing is a monster and drives amazing in every way.. my only complaint that it is all S tronic now, no more manuals
but its still a blast and much easier to drive faster . in the end they are both very different cars, the porsche and the Audi just cannot compare the two. they both have their areas. To be honest I still prefer my 997 over any car ive driven and it to this day still gives me a smile ear to ear.
