paint chip repair
paint chip repair
caught a stone on the hood of my '08 c4s cab.I don't really want to go to the body shop to have someone there tell me it will cost me $1000's.
I stumbled onto this product and wanted to know if anyone else has either heard about it or used it. The product is called " Dr. Color Chip "
I viewed several of their online how to video's and it looks pretty simple to me.
They claim the repair is as good as factory, once cured.
Any input would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I have used Dr Colorchip for several years on silver and black vehicles. From what I have found you get the best results by taking your time and using multiple applications depending upon the depth of the chip or scratch. As stated by sfs, the product works easily and it does cover stone ships, however, do not expect professional paint and body shop results. I have used it on chips and scratches with good success.
IMHO, the question is as our P-Cars age, and I mean in the 10 year range, when is it more important to drive and enjoy our cars accepting a few stone chips as badges of honor, vs. the velvet rug garage queen approach. I have found a good balance of both with the Dr. Colorchip product.

thanks everyone for your input. I didn't expect to have my stone chip look like a professional repair but I have seen touch up paints that make the car look like it has the measels, which is not the look I want.
I have watched their video's and the completed product looks good to me.
Thanks again everyone for your input.

I have also used Dr Colorchip with success.
It may not make chip disappear 100% but it significantly minimizes it. The good thing about Dr Colorchip is that the paint is watery, so you can very easily apply multiple coats without ending with a blob.

Flying Cat, that is exactly what I wanted to hear.
I know using paint that you apply with a dabbing brush and rub with a rubber glove will not give you that $1000+ paint job, but if it almost makes it gone, that's what I want.
Thanks

My goal is always just to have it good enough to where it no longer grabs your eye . . . I have always used factory touch up and a toothpick. Depending on the depth, it takes 3-4 applications to build the paint up to the factory depth-- KH
