997.1 - Great to Be Back!

Well it brings me great joy to return to the brand after a 5 year hiatus! Sedan needs, lack of garage space, etc...doesn't matter why I left...but I'm back - The prodigal son returneth!

This is my 3rd 911 (had a 997.1 and 997.2). Almost bought a 993...but it just didn't move me like the 997. Yes...even drove 991.. again, loved it, but chemistry is hard to explain sometimes...it has a way of speaking another language that only you can translate!

Behold - Pics of the 2006 S, 18k miles, full leather, Porsche crest, etc. I added:
-escort 360 hardwired
-blacked out decklid emblem
-blacked out stone guard
-oz racing wheels
-fister muffflers

Next up...maybe intake...definitely need to fix the whine in the aftermarket stereo (don't really listen to radio so I may return with original pcm).

Few other pics that helped contribute my return to Porsche. Work trip that re-routed me to Stuttgart...ahh yes, when in the motherland, your mind plays tricks on ya. Justification, yearning, desire, passion reignited, there is no other substitute!

Finally, I'm selling my 19" wheels if anyone interested. Just pm...!

Agree in past would have had tons of replies here. Oh well...I will still participate and post!

Yes Derek, car was jacked up at the time as they were putting on my new oz wheels.

Tarek - was fun to be there, but wanted to see production floor. I understand though that's only reserved for euro-delivery. Was also surprised to see hardly any 911s on the autobahn. I think I saw 1 in 7 days! 993...

Interesting you prefer 997 experience over a 993...is it the horsepower?

I couldn't put a finger on it exactly...I speculate a few reasons:
-the reliability of the 2....night and day
-997 definitely faster...a hair more fun to drive as a result
-sound....well I found I liked sport exhaust nearly as much as air cooled
-My wife chirping in my ear saying she wanted 997 more than 993
-I'm not a cab guy, and the 993 I honed in on was cab
-they were at same price...one had 18k miles other had 60
-997...Pavlov's dogs...was my first 911...so that emotional draw back
-993 seems to have hit a wall...so thought my chance of resell a bit easier with 997
-997 not as pretty....but I saw one on the forum and thought best lookin car I ever saw....so I bought it and copied it exactly!

Welcome back and beautiful 997.1 - still my favorite generation.

Jealous of your trip to Stuttgart, that's definitely a bucket list item.

Good luck with her and let me know if you need anything. We have a beautiful Competition Air Intake for the 997 that really opens them up nicely. Forum discount too, obviously
