Squeaky steering rack

First-time poster - long time lurker, coming from 996.

This is x-posted from other forums trying to get as much coverage as possible.Has anyone had this issue? This is a 997.2, 2010.

I have read a post or two where people were just leaving things be.

Would appreciate getting any feedback on what could be the cause. I have checked the power steering fluid, and it was full.

The video is of the rack itself.

@steve - that isn't leaking, it might be dry according to the dealer. Perhaps everything had leaked out and now it's bone dry....

I had exactly the same issue with my 997.2 - rack was replaced under warranty.
The squeak was from rubber seals on rack pinion shaft - it will eventually turn into a leak.
Place one end of a 13mm black poly pipe onto rack pinion and other end to your ear to make sure its coming from the pinion and not elsewhere - worked a treat for me.

@zoto, the garage has already determined where that came from - that video was taken by them. They thought it may be the pinion bush was dry, makes sense if that was the rubber seal. Will look into reconditioning rather than replacing as it is not under warranty. This issue is rather rare as your reply is the first one I get after posting in three forums. The garage hasn't seen anything like this either.
