911 hard top

I have a 2008 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, and live on the Alabama Gulf Coast where it rains torrentially-a lot. Have had issues with drain holes plugging up and was wondering if a removable hard top would do anything to solve this problem, or would I need to go with a permanent hard top and give up having a convertible?

I had a 996 Cab with a removable hardtop. When the top was on it was just like a coupe. I used it in the winter a few times and it worked great - also in the rain.
