Smile 2008 C2 cabriolet

Hi everyone,
I found a 2008 Carrera 2 cabriolet, 6 speed with 84k miles. Carfax show 2 previous owners and all service indicate was at Carlsen Porsche, except a RMS was replaced at an independent shop. No major work was listed. Asking price was $33000. I drove it and it all seems fine and still pulls. no weird noise, no oil or smokey smell.. Little blemish here and there( cup holder, few worn spot on the convertible top, lite scratches, navi not available...)Just wonder for this mileage, what should I look for if I purchased the car? clutch? and how about the IMS issue with this model? its the price right??

IMS essentially a non issue mid-05 through 08. You need a full PPI with DME readout and I'd talk to the Service Manager at Carlsen Porsche to see what they can tell you about the Service history. Price seems about right for a base cab at that mileage. .

Should I concern the clutch? Carfax does not show it had been replaced, and its 84k miles. I don't feel any slippage or burning smell as I test drove it. Carlsen Porsche is not giving out info since I am not the ower(yet). the only major fix was a rear crankshaft seal, done at about 80k miles. Is it typical for a Porsche clutch to last this long assuming it has not be abuse?

These clutches can go 100k miles if driven properly. At what mileage was the seal replaced? If at 40k or later, most probably would have done the clutch at the same time as a WYIT type repair since the labor would already be covered for the RMS seal replacement.

The RMS was done at 82K, at an independent shop in Menlo Park, not sure if they had do the clutch too. Carfax shows engine serviced at 20k, 60k, but didn't indicate what was done. Other info were simply checked/inspected. It did had the fuel vent hose/filter replaced at 60k, engine/powertrain computer reprogrammed, and brake fluid flushed at 78k. Oil change last at 83k then went for sale at a VW dealer. It had two previous owner, one owned for 5 years and other owned for almost 4 year.

our '08C4 has Bose sound but no navi or ability to play ipod. changed head unit but shop did not set fade before pulling the old head unit. Hence, virtually no sound from the rear speakers. To remedy that runs into real money. A backup camera was $300.00, mostly labor.

I have seen many posts on adding/changing radios and there should be several threads about aftermarket radio/navi combos, try searching.

I think you will need the HUR unit but the fade still needs to be set before removing old head unit.

Took it out on Easter Sunday 100 mile drive, awesome ! I put in a BMC air filter but not really feel much difference . I also poured a can of sea foam and filled up. Not sure if these two thing do much but it ran perfectly fine, very strong and fast. now I need to get an extra key, dealer only gave me one , any suggestion ?

You have to get the key from dealer. Call a few of them for quotes. It can get pricey

I got quoted for key, cut and program for $445 tax incl. So far this is cheapest I found from a dealer. Any other option?
