Recommendations on Replacing Porsche Head Unit 997.1
I'm interested in replacing the Porsche sound system with something modern with navigation, blue tooth with no known pairing issues, etc. Any recommendations on a good value setup?

Rather than get a head unit that has navigation (and hence will require updates etc down the line), I suggest you get one with Android Auto or Apple Car Play support - this is what I did. You would still get phone functions and music, and can use voice assist itself. FYI, I went with the Sony XAV-AX100. It's one of the cheapest head units that support both Android Auto and CarPlay.
Other components you'll need depend on whether your car has the Bose (MOST) amplifier or not, and whether you want to retain steering wheel controls (if you have the MF wheel)

I had been looking to replace mine but after installing the LaPower bluetooth module it brought the PCM into the modern age. Instant BT pairing for music streaming and it activates the factory Telephone menu for hands-free calling. At $150 you cant go wrong with it.
Search the Rennlist 997 forum for "LaPower Bluetooth". There are hundreds of posts on it and I think 99% of people are extremely happy with it.
