Oil Leak on engine mount

I just changed the rear engine mounts on my 997.1
After a short run, I noticed oil dripping underneath. It appeared to be coming from beside the right side engine mount. Removing the air-box I saw this. Oil around the top indent of the motor mount, overflowing and dripping down to the garage floor. A drip every 5 seconds with the motor running. Where could it be coming from?
There is no other oil on ANYTHING that I can see or feel.
(Does the motor start without the air-box plugged in and attached?)

Thanks

Rob

Most OEM mounts are liquid filled. Sounds like you have a leak...

That would explain it alright. I will put the old one back in and go for a short drive and see if there is any oil leak.

I bought them from Pelican Parts and if I phone them up and tell them about it, that would be proof positive of a defective part.

If that's what it is. Re 'n re an engine mount takes less than an hour once you've done it already.

So I did put the old one back in and no oil. The new mount definitely weeped oil out of the top crimp when I held it sideways.

Phoned Pelican Parts this morning and they will send a new part, as I fully expected they would.
