No audio after removing DVD navigation unit

I installed an aftermarket HU last year, and things were working great. A friend of mine wanted my original HU, and asked if I still had the DVD navigation unit in the frunk. I removed the DVD nav unit out, and no longer get any audio.

Even though it wasn't being used, was the DVD navigation crucial to my audio? Is there a bypass unit I can put in its place if that's the case? The leftover cables remind me a lot of what I connected into my MOST HUR. I have the Bose system in my car.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, those orange fiber optic lines need to make a complete circuit for everything to work. You'll need some type of coupler for what you've taken apart and may also need to have the car recoded at a dealer to not look for that module anymore. Even though it wasn't being used it was still being powered and was in the circuit.

It works exactly as Petza said. I had an aftermarket Ipod connection installed in my car and in order to make it work CD changer had to be bypassed so connection you're looking at was was coupled. It was very simple plastic part which essentially kept two fiber-optics butt joined. I think you can try to hold them in place so light signal is going through and see if that will work. The other issue might be that our cars are using CAN BUS system to communicate in between devices and at this point your car is missing part of it which could disturb it.

Thanks for the info. I believe you are right. I will look into a solution like you suggested.
