Cabriolet clamshell juddering and wont close when opening top
Hi all. I am at a complete loss and I am hoping someone here can guide me. I have a 2005 997 cabriolet and when I am opening the top the clamshell shakes when closing and will not close. The fabric top seems to work fine and opens and closes normally but when it comes to the clamshell closing it shakes. (When closing, the clamshell works fine)
The top has almost been completely redone at this point. The rams were rebuilt by Craig on here and a new fabric top was just installed but the clamshell still doesn’t close right when I am putting the top down.
I finally booked in to the Porsche dealer today and after a lot of fiddling with the computer they said it is one of the micro switches. It works perfectly when being ran with no micro switches but when the switches are engaged it seems as though it gets caught and opens again. (they suggested they would trace the bad microswitch but that it was a min $500 start in labor costs)
Sorry if this is a long read but my question is how would I work out which micro switch it is? The top functions perfectly when closing. The rear deck shakes when open and after about ten tries will allow the deck to seat and the top to open fully.
