Oil in intake
Oil in intake

Im working on rebuilding my crashed 2009 997.2 and recently got it running with a full cooling system for the first time in a while. The car ran okay for the first minute or two but then started sputtering and idling rough. I shut it off and began inspecting the MAF sensor. While checking the airbox, I noticed an oily substance near the throttle body.
I carefully opened the throttle to look inside and found a pool of oil in the intake. Upon further inspection, I also found oil around the engine oil cooler. My initial assumption was a faulty AOS (Air Oil Separator), so I ordered a new one from FCP Euro.
After receiving the AOS, I:
1. Installed it correctly, ensuring the two O-rings were seated properly.
2. Thoroughly cleaned the plenum.
3. Let the AOS pipe dry for a few days before reassembling.
It was a struggle to get the plenum to sit correctly, but I got it installed. After doing a throttle re-learn, the car started but ran okay-ish. I had to hold the accelerator pedal slightly to keep the engine from dying. Soon, I noticed smoke coming from the back of the car.
I continued running the car for a bit, but it began sputtering again. A slight press on the accelerator resulted in a backfire-like sound, and suddenly, white smoke started pouring out of the left exhaust. I immediately shut off the car, checked the engine bay, and saw smoke coming from the airbox.
Upon removing the airbox, I found more oil in the intake and additional smoke.
Has anyone encountered something like this before? Any ideas on what could be causing the oil in the intake and these issues?

today I removed and replaced the spark plugs and all were fouled with oil. Did a compression test numbers range from 230-245psi. My guess was that I have too much oil but I drained and measured. I had around just over 5ish quarts which is alarming. Cause I added 7.9 quarts months ago. The car hasn’t run nor driven long enough to consume that much. No visible metal chunks or flakes in the oil or filter. Any ideas? I’m
