About to pull the trigger on a C2

I visited my local Porsche Dealership (Boardwalk in Plano, TX) and I am almost 90% certain I'm gonna pull the trigger on a 997 C2. I just had a few questions about how service works at Porsche dealerships.

If I buy a car from another dealership, do they usually service it for you and give you Porsche loaners at the dealership? Or is that pretty much unheard of? Also, the salesman is telling me he can get me 2-3k off MSRP on a C2, but from what im gathering on the boards, I should get up to 5k off MSRP. The main deal is the servicing. I want to be able to drop my car off in Plano, get a good loaner, not some ****ty enterprise loaner.

Sorry, might sound like a dumb question, but im usually a BMW guy and they dont give u BMW loaners unless you bought the car at that dealership.

Porsche has its own dealer loaner program that the individual dealer has to sign up for it. the program costs the dealer money so check with ur dealer if they have ''Porsche loaner'' cars or not. sometimes if the specific dealer sells Audi then it should have Audi loaner cars as well. if they don't then Enterprise will be offered but the most i've seen is 50 bucks per day rental coverage. i've had good luck with both dealer loaner & Enterprise since the cars are generally pretty new with really low miles. i don't think u'll be using the service very often so don't let this small issue bother your Porsche experience. most of time after a POS rental will make u much appreciated of what u have. however, introduce yourself to the service writer & make sure he remembers u. this is important since Porsche service is a little different than BMW or Mercedes.

regarding the price, offer him 5k off or walk with no hard feeling. doubt he would turn u down if he wants to move a car. not to say 2~3k off is not a good deal since anything below MSRP is fair imo, just depends on certain dealer's inventory. it's beginning of the month so they might not need to be too aggressive now. if u can wait then wait for few weeks til later the month i bet they'll deal. car might be gone by then so if u have to have it act now & be happy with it.

good luck shopping!

sweet, thats about my timeframe for buying the car anyways.

im pretty sure they do have a porsche loaner program. if they do its probably only availble to people who buy the car at that dealer, i guess.

i don't think porsche loaner is only if you bought the car there. you should double check.

all the porsche dealers have had the same loaner program in my experience. that is they will give you a Porsche loaner IF you bought your current car there AND they have a porsche loaner available. even if you make an appt well in advance, that usually doesn't guarantee you a Porsche loaner as they don't "hold" them for people.

so if they are out or you didn't buy the car from them, they'll hook you up with enterprise. i once got a 5 yr old smoked in malibu that i wasn't too happy about

i'd speak to the service mgr and tell him that you are considering buying a car from them but want to know how their loaner system works. be very clear so that if he changes his story later down the road, you can "remind" him of your conversation
