Best Motoring did a shoot out between the 997S, 997, 996 TT, 360 Modena and NSX-R and the 997S Won and had the fastest speed trap.
Although you can really feel the power difference between the 997S and 996TT i believe from experience (had both cars) I'd pick the 997.
EDIT: Thought this was for an S car... sorry!!!
i still can't believe there is even a discusssion about this.
you're comparing an aftermarket installed forced induction system (which will instanly void any warranty on that new 997) to a car that has a factory designed and warrantied turbo setup.
duh........ and i have an EVO SC'd car so I'm not biased against the SC. we had to have a cab and TT cabs were way out of our budget when we purchased the car back in 04. however, if they had been more reasonably priced i would have gotten a tt cab in a heartbeat.
not to mention what i said in my previous post about bringin the car up to 600HP and gobs or torque for around the same amount you're going to spend on the SC purchase and install. although the SC setup will produce more torque than stock, it's nothing like the TT's.

get the TT. the evo SC is linear and so is the torque... it's lacking in the SC kit.
if you want nimble then remove the front diff. it's been done but takes some work.
you can mod the TT well beyond the SC but of course you'll void the warranty if it still has one.
DDOG, there's still a discussion about this because of the improved looks of the 997. if looks were just as important as power i might go for the 997... or better yet a 3.8L 997S. a 997S supercharged still won't get as much HP/TQ as a modded TT but it's gonna be a 500+ HP car with decent torque.

i see what your saying. the looks of the 997 still haven't grown on me yet. i like the wider rear fenders, but that's about it. the interior and front end just don't do it for me. nice car, but i still prefer the 996.
i was thinking the same for a while but the 997 has finally grown on me. the turning point was when i saw the first spy shots of the 997 gt3. my jaw dropped.
