996tt or 997 w/ SC

What do you guys think, when it came to a 997S vs a 996TT I would easily choose the 996tt.

That being said the EVO supercharger looks like a steal for what it gives you. I am debating a 997 'NON S' and slapping on a supercharger which would put me on par with the 996tt in terms of power.

That being said I can actually pick up a 2003 996tt at least $10K cheaper than a base 997. Resale values for the 996TT are tanking locally and most people are in a dump it at all cost mood simpply because the 997TT is launching soon.

If you're looking for pure power in a more nimble car, the 997 with the SC will walk all over the stock TT.

get the TT. take that 10K you saved from not buying the 997 and put that into bumping your TT up to stage 4. now you've got a 600HP car with way more torque and better looks. i've driven a stage 4 TT and you'll never get that kind of a rush out of a SC'd 3.6 motor.

I agree with deputydog.

10k less than a new 997? Wow Turbo 996's have really come down. I wonder how bad this will effect C2 and C4 prices.... Or are we talking an 01.

Yeah, i have seen nice examples of 996tt in the 60s to 70s.
What is your objective? to get a more powerful car or more luxury.
I really like the new shape and the engine, but even the older 996 is
impressive by my standard. Plus if you have money, sky is the limit.

Talking about a 03 actually. A friend of mine works at the dealership and they have enough used TTs in stock right now and people are hep keeps turning buyins away. A good example of a 03 will set me back $66K while a 997 will set me back about $74K but thats pretty much a stripped down car where as the TT would be pretty loaded. There are other concers of course like warranty, though I figure with a supercharger I can pretty much throw any warranty I have out the window.

RAJA: I prefer the luxury of the TT over a base 997. The only real difference for me would be the fact the new shape of the 997 is out, not that big a deal to me. I can afford to buy a new 997TT but I cannot justify the added expense in my mind. I purchased a new Cayenne TT and that things depreciated like a rock, looking back it probably would have been a good idea to pick up a used one.

If you want a nimble car with a great body and powerful (but limited power) go 997 w/ SC.

If you want a slightly heavier, dated car, but with almost unlimited power options, go 996TT. I would go 996TT if I were you.

Hmm interesting, an 03 fully loaded for 66k, i call BS but w/e!

Anyway tough decision quite honestly, TT is insane expecially modded engine wise and suspeison wise, the grip, cornering speed and exiting acceleration is mind blowing, something i could never get out of my supercharged M3 whcih im sure was alot like and better then a SC 997!

I live in Dubai. People have the habit of the latest and greatest, and everyone wants something new! Good for me... basically I'm picking up a 996TT for a song Officially the retail price sits at about $78K but it helps having connections

I'm starting to lean more towards the 996TT unless someone can give me a really good reason to pick up a 997.

Ahh i see, makes much more sense! Anyway im really hating how cheap these cars are getting, but damm, that's like not buying a certain car because of their owners or something childish like that. Bottom line, Porsche's are great, wish they would hold their value much more though

i prefer a nimble, not heavy, with amazing new design car and quite powerfull..a 997s,but i can trust the reliability of a S/C even if is from RUF...power is not everything in my opinion
