If I wanted to use the original airbag (Porsche crest is nice) will it fit? If it does, is the wheel available without the airbag?

Aren't there safety issues with replacing the airbag? Would people be comfortable replacing a Porsche OEM that has been through years and years of testing with an aftermarket? What if you crash and the weasel doesn't pop? Looking for insight for I have no clue as to the technical aspects of airbag technology. Thanks.

So basically its easier to just order the wheel you want and then the hub that goes with your car in the finish you want .

To make this easy, send me an email at evan@fvd.us with which wheel you like and what cars its going in and I will send you back a "package" price
Evan
Thanks for the offer, but the car isn't hear yet so my wife would kill me if I spent $1500 on a new steering wheel when I haven't used the one that's coming yet.

Trovan: Yes it comes with the new airbag installed ready to go. Install is not difficult at all, a little hardware and wiring. Nothing needs to be reset as long as you make sure you disconnect the battery before starting... If you forget you will get an airbag light that can be cleared at the dealer!

Dr.T: The stock airbag will not fit unfortunatly! You have PM...

TheJudge: Atiwe is a very well known and respected companies. They have been making steering wheels for YEARS! All wheels carry a Tuv approval (strict requirements (much more so than the US) to be road legal in Europe). I understand your concern, but rest assured the airbags have been tested many times and if they can get the same TUV approval Porsche wheels do, the airbag will work.

grave: I hear ya

Regards,
Evan

Evan is correct on the TUV...that is why I aasked. If it's ok with them it's ok with me. Evan I'm still waiting to find out the status of my TechArt...if that does not look good I'm in.

Is this thicker than the Techart? I'm ready to cancel my techart order but was notified the other day that they don't have the techart logo and I can have the wheel without it if I want? Not quite sure I get that LOL.

I'm also a little concerned with the airbag thing.

Sounds good Wross just let me know!

E55: I have not actually held a techart so I can't say for sure, but I can't see the Techart being any thicker than this....

I've held the Techart wheel and currently have the thicker steering wheel option on my 997. The TechArt wheel is about twice as thick as my wheel. I could barely get my hands around it (awesome BTW!). But they require a core exchange and I believe it would cost about 2x the FVD with the airbag. Not sure though. How does a group buy shakedown? I want an all Black wheel.
How long/difficult is the install?
