speaker replacement

Is there a drop in replacement for that 5.12" Bosegus subwoofer? All I want is some solid low rather then that POS booming sound.

Thanks,
rkg

I test drove one the other day and had the same opinion of the sound from the Bose woofer. Try plugging up the ports for the woofer and see if that helps. Usually, ported enclosures are typically boomy by design, plugging the ports is a cheap way to make it a sealed enclousure.

If you plug it, there won't be any bass at all since the speakers are internally mounted. I turn down the bass so I get more of a punch instead of a boom.

I did that as well and got better bass response, like you say, punchier...Covering the ports will not kill the bass, it'll just create more sound/air pressure inside the enclosure. Same as the old trick sticking a pair of socks in the port of a ported floorstanding speaker at home. The increased pressure inside the enclosure makes it punchier and less boomy. Many times, the boomyness you hear is the air moving across the port(s)...that's why most of them are a flared design...
