Which 997S would you pick?

Car # 1 @ indep. dealer.

2006 997S - 14,400 miles - Seal Gray w/Black leather
6 speed
Adaptive, power heated sport seats
Sport Chrono Pkg
Bose Stereo
Thicker Steering Wheel
19" Carrera S Wheels

Arizona car, some (minor) fading of weatherstripping around windows/doors
front bumper shows signs of mileage tiny marks you can only see from up really close as do headlights and windshield. Drivers seat side bolster has minor visable wear/minor scratches. Rest of car, body/paint is in excellent shape. All books and records.
$70,500.

Car # 2 private party
2005 997S - 8,500 miles - Seal Gray w/Black leather
6 speed
Adaptive, power heated sport seats
Bose Stereo
NAV
CD changer
Aluminum door sills "Carrera S"
Thicker Steering Wheel
19" Carrera S Wheels

Local car, in very good cosmetic condition front bumper looks perfect as do headlights and windshield. Minor wear on drivers side bolster. All books and records.
$75,000.

I currently have a 993 C2. Dealer with car #1 will take my car on trade in and give me a very good deal. I also plan on having the factory Aero kit installed on which ever I buy.

That being said; which would you choose ?

Unless Nav is a big deal, I'd go with the first one.

Thanks for the replies guys...It's a tough decision for me and #1 is the easiest by far...I haven't totally made up my mind yet which is why I'm asking for opinions from you guys - thanks again, keep it coming.

I would go with option #2 but at 70K. I really appreciate getting a complete history from an owner along with all the records. I would also ask for the Marrone window sticker. I know you will enjoy either car.
Mike 2005 Carrera S slate gray/black full leather and heated adaptive sport seats.

Thanks Mike - 'preciate the input. However, seller of #2 has already turned down my tentative offer of $73k.

Question as to why there's already fading on #1 car - is this normal for Arizona? Mileage sounds high for an '06 too.

Trade in makes it easier, but you've got to know that number too before deciding. Selling privately, you'll get more, but have the hassel of selling it. YOu won't get any sales tax savings either if you sell if privately, so keep that in mind.

As the other said, don't forget the tax savings on your trade.

There's also the hastle factor for selling your car, AND whether or not you'll get what you want for it. You didn't say what your car is and the market right now is a little wishy/washy for cars.

If the AZ car was in the sun during the day at someone's employment then the fading doesn't strike me as odd.

Don't forget that #1 is a newer car and so the low miles premium thing is going to be less benefit in 5 years.

Yes - mileage for an '06 is on the high side, but it was a daily driver...and I'll only put about 5k MAX on it per year. It is an AZ car so the slightly oxidized weather stripping is not uncommon...but what's weird is it's only on the driver's side...will look into that.

As far as the tax benefit on trade in...not in CA, don't get me started But, I bought my current car (1996 993 C2) form this same indy dealer and they want it back. They will make some money on it, but so will I
As far as private party sale goes, I could make more, but time is not something I have lots of.

Thanks again for all the input - this really helps in my decision making process.

Re

I'd come in with a low offer on the high mileage one to see if he bites, is you are not interested in NAV. As for option 2, you might have to play the waiting game as $73K might be a hard sell. I think the guy will lower his price after a few weeks of tirekickers.

I agree, go with the first if you want to trade in. if you want to keep the 993, def go with option 2, but offer something lower, maybe $73,000.

You can live without nav and the Bose. I say option 1 and put a grand into the stereo.

Both have Bose, and I can live without the NAV. So I plan on taking that extra money for the factory CUP aero kit and maybe a few performance mods
I'm going to look at/drive car #1 again today.
