Got my car back.
Got my car back.
I took my car in Mon and the tech basically found nothing wrong with the car.
Hesitation on acceleration which led to a slight bog and some valve clatter was caused by the car's ECU learning my "old man" style of driving. He said that because I do mostly in town driving, the car just learned how I drive from stoplight to stoplight. He reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery.
Exhaust soot predominant on the left tips - unknown cause but 30 page printout indicates that there is nothing wrong with the car and Porsche is aware of the issue but there is no known cause/problem/solution. I guess it's a good thing to take your car in to at least document the presence of the problem. Just in case it turns out to be a problem in the future.
My tech also gave me a swift kick in my ***. Once again, my battery was drained. I guess 4000 miles in 11 months is not enough driving to keep the battery in an acceptable state. I try to drive it as much as possible but I just don't get too much seat time these days. Despite having the Porsche charger/battery maintainer, I have only used it once. I guess the rule is that if you do less than 6k/year and have battery issues, Porsche will void your battery warranty due to sulfation.
Overall, the car runs fine, the hesitation is gone and the car is now sitting with the battery maintainer conected to it.

What is your oil consumption? I had left side soot on my exhaust tips along with the use of one quart of oil per 450 miles. It was a ring problem on cylinders 4 and 5. The engine is being replaced at 10K total miles. Both the leak down and scope examination of the engine were abnormal. I purchased the car 2K miles ago. The original owner reports the high oil consumption from new. The engine seemed to run fine despite the ring issue.

That's retarded. My battery recently died as well and I have less than 6k on my 997. Replaced under warranty.

To tell you the truth, I keep thinking about making it a day trip. It would be worth it to see all your mods!

What u need to do is go 1-2 a week at midnight and drive the f**k out of ur car. High speed runs, canyon runs, and 0-60 runs to pump up your adrenaline, make u feel like a young kid and get your moneys worth invested in buying a sports car.
Or, send it to Boston and i can do it for u.....
