duck taped the resonator in the airbox
duck taped the resonator in the airbox
This seems to make it louder. I tried to do the Croc DIY job that is posted in another thread but can't find the qwik ell anywhere here in tampa florida. I guess I will have to order it on the internet. The question I hoped to have answered is this mod just makes it louder right? If that is the case haven't I accomplised this by duck taping the resonator closed? I know it isn't a long term fix but I wanted to hear it so I knew if I wanted to go further with this mod. I like the sound. I would like to have this sound and pick up some HP. I wonder if the Evo V-Flow sounds like this when it is hooked up?
By the way I would have posted this in a curerent thread but for some reason I can only start threads right now. No sure why?

Cool man...Like I said in the DIY thread, I wouldn't trust that duct tape to last very long in there. Yank it out, put it back to stock and if you want to... PM me your mailing address and I'll send you one of those rubber L-bows.
To answer your question, no, you get no hp gain and I'm not sure about the Evo intake. Call them on that but I'm pretty sure you get a better sound with their intake- if it adds hp, well, thats been debated to death already.

golfman, both Lowes and Home Depot have thes rubber elbows. Just go to the plumbing section. I bought mine at Lowes in Brandon. However I can not for the life of me get the cut section over the throttle body. It will not strectch! I have heating the hose in the sun, hot engine compartment and tried to stretch it over night...it will not fit!!!!
What is did do it trim down the rubber rez cover cap and fit the stock hose over it. So the rez is plugged and everything looks stock. However I'd like to get this plumbing hose to fit because it is smooth inside unlike the stock piece.
I have a rubber elbow you can try to see if you can get it to fit. I live in Apollo Beach if you want to drive over.
I have Fabspeed mufflers and can not seem to hear any sound difference with the tape over the rez or my current solution.

Hey Drums - did you buy the exact piece that I posted about (same label, model # etc) ?
Like I said in the initial thread, the stuff is pretty hard to work with. Are you sure you cut it long enough ? On mine, the short side of the elbow was 5.5" and the longer side was 9.25", IIRC. I found it easiest to install one end of the tube to the airbox, get it lined up properly and tighten the hose clamp. That way when you're trying to maneuver the other end of the tube onto the air intake, the end on the airbox doesn't come loose - it takes a bit of tugging and wrangling to get both ends on. If it goes on really easily on both sides, then you probably cut it too short. It sounds like in your case, it's a bit long.
Heating it up works, but I found that if you just pull on the openings it'll stretch a bit, but enough to get it on, and then it goes back to it's normal size after you tighten the hose clamp.
I just did a 300 mile drive today and did a visual of the mod when I arrived at my destination and it looks fine. All the clamps are securely in place and the condition of the hose looks brand new - no heat issues at all.

Hi Crod, I got mine from Lowes maybe your rubber piece is thinner but there is no way in hell my piece will go on. I laied in in the hot engine compartment to heat it up, heat gunned it and no way will it stretch. It was only a few bucks but this weekend I will go to Home Depot and get there version.
However for now I cut down the rez plug and the whole stock piece fits over it and the rez is closed off.
Also I am going by a local race shop to see about just getting some silicon rubber hose and fitting it like Fabspeed does. I checked prices on lone and it should cost me about $15-20for the piece.
