My First
My First
Thanks everyone who had given me advice about ordering my first Porsche - I've been waiting for 29 years, and it was so, so worth it.
Is it weird that I just sit in the garage and stare? I actually enjoyed cleaning every nook and cranny today.
I have posted a full powerpoint of high res photos if anyone is interested in checking out my ride - check out my signature.
I finally got my Cargraphic Turbo R 19"s from Road Sport Supply - and I am really happy with the way they look. RSS was great.
I'm going to have a bunch of questions and look forward to your additonal thoughts and suggestions - but I'll read through the board first (iPod, K40 Calibre, GPS positioning, tires and this AWE exhaust which is supposed to add 39 hp and 31 lbs?!?!?)
Going to the Porsche Driving Experience Dec 2-3 -anyone else going let me know and I'll see you in Alabama!

Thanks for your welcome - I'm going to find some time this week to review the AWE thoughts on the board - Cargraphics is also a consideration, but I think more for the sound than the performance...

Khalid - thanks for the welcome! I see that you have had a Turbo and now X51 and waiting for GT3 so I would like your thoughts about X51 vs. turbo vs. GT3.... due to my experience early Saturday mornign with a friend who is on the board and has a 04 Turbo, with JIC suspension.
I was so happy about this car and wanted my friend's opinion - so he called me to go for a drive in the dawn hours - we were on the road for 20 mins and he said "Let's go back and get my car" (after referring to my ride as a "Boat" - he did take that back, but hey some things just sit there!)....
After a ride in his Turbo the experience left me laughing hard - it was way too much fun. But I couldn't see driving one daily (or at least more than just on weekends).
Your thoughts?

when i first got the 4S, my wife used to come into the garage, look at me,......"are you coming to bed??"
Raja - considering I was 10 when I saw my first one and 13 when I spent my entire biology class staring at the photos of my teachers' restored 912 (and the sign he kept above the doorway - PORSCHE IS A TWO SYLLABLE WORD) its been a loooooong wait. Thanks for the compliments - T

One of the reasons why I abandoned the turbo platform was probably driving the Cayman S that I got for my wife. It blew me away with the level of cornering grip and how good it felt to hustle something light and responsive into a corner. I highly respect the turbo and sometimes I do miss the power but short of getting a GT2, very few were imported here and none are for sale, I had to change to a two wheel drive platform that's naturally aspirated.
The 997 S X51 came soon after selling the turbo and if I was a sane man, I'd keep it forever. It's just perfect for everything. The power just gets better and better and the sound of the PSE keeps getting more vocal and melodious as the kilometers keep pilling up. The feel of the steering wheel and the perfect weighing makes it an amazing car to take to some back roads. The level of grip is not as much as the Cayman but you also drive this one differently. You rely on the grunt of that engine in the back to launch you from corners. Sometimes I do miss the torque of the turbo but not when I'm driving the 997 S, you don't miss a thing in this phenominal sports car.
The GT3 RS will be here during January of next year so impressions when it's in my hands.
Besides feeling better about my decision not to buy a turbo, I really appreciate your considerate response. It was not only educational but enlightening.
Your description of the X51 maturing has kept me from investigating the AWE exhaust package any further - at least until 5,000 miles!
Can't wait to hear about the GT3! Sounds like its a whole new world....
Thanks again - T
