Porsche 997 gets a subtle nip and tuck

In keeping with Porsche's long-held tradition of incremental evolution, pictures surfaced yesterday of a mildly tweaked 997 making its way around the Nurburgring.

The exterior changes are expectedly subtle, with the front fascia getting larger air intakes, ala the new 911 Turbo, and a mildly stretched nose. Out rear, the taillights have been sunken into the bodywork to a greater degree and have finally moved into the 21st century with an LED setup replacing the old bulb-illuminated units.
Understated? Yes. But what else would you expect from Stuttgart?

With such a finished product unleashed I would not be surprised if this reaches the dealer as 2008's.
I would also not be surprised if the front fog lamp had a small integrated LED like the turbos, just smaller. In some spy shots its covered up as if its hiding something

I would disagree. Time will tell. Based on previous history Porsche makes some turbo type look front clip for the non turbo cars, bumps a bit of power etc. after a few years and thats exactly the timeframe we are at now of the 997 production.
Buying a 911 is like buying a computer. If you never buy it, you'll always get the latest and greatest. If you buy it, you have to be prepared that it won't be the "new one" in a couple years. I love my 997S, even when it won't be the fastest/newest/coolest/etc.
Very true. My Porsche purchase is slated for April-May next year and I plan on keeping it as a weekend only for quite a while so Im not worried about changes etc. within the year or two year period. Porsches age quite well so its all good.
Plus if your in the market for an '07 and get a good discount under MSRP you can't complain. Get it now.

Hmmm, definetly wouldnt prolong a purchase based on that. LED's are great, they should have gotten on that bus in 05' but I guess they couldn't afford them. Not feeling the rear at all. The front looks nice and is a very mild upgrade that will go unnoticed by most.
