The Renntech.org site has a TSB about installing the X-51 powerkit that shows how to modify the engine lid to accomodate the second air intake. Note that you have to be a paying member to download it. A good Porsche resource & they deserve your contribution.
It appears from the photo that the intake tube connecting to the throttle body is different. The X-51 intake manifold is also different from the stock 997S. Checking with a dealer mechanic or other expert about fit before ordering parts is a good idea. Availability of these parts by themselves is an unknown.
I am sure that the cost is high and the power gains small, however, the airbox looks and probably sounds good.
Champion makes a CF airbox now, cost is apparently $3500(!). The Evo airbox is $695.

I wish i can see a run against a regular 997s vs a x51 997s.. or the X51 agasint a lightly moded 997s...
My 997S has muffler bypass pipes and GIAC and im willing to bet that if a run an X51 997S it wont be that much of a diff,, might even be a drivers race.

I know about the second air intake....tomorrow my porsche dealer is going to tell me about the instalation and how much for it.
and theres no way to put the Evoms....I dont like them....it was a waste of money...
...and I tell you why....here in Buenos Aires...cars like Porsche`s are very expensive...I pay for my 997 Carrera S (U$S 166.000) and I really dont like to put a low low quality material and not good looking air box filter....that`s my opinion....I dont whant to talk bad about Evoms....but I wish you could see my box filter...I know thats sth is wrong....and I will continue buying thing in Evoms.....thats sure!!!!

I have an Evo airbox, in addition to the complete AWE exhaust system. The quality is excellent, but it certainly does not have the bling value of carbon fiber. Evo stated that their airbox flowed about 35 percent more than the stock 997S unit. With 1/3 more airflow, it is obviously doing something. A good estimate is 5 HP at the rear wheels.
Has anyone actually tested the X-51 airbox for flow? Never seen costs for it posted, even if available.
The Champion CF box looks great, but anything more than 10 HP for it is wishful thinking. At $3500, it is 1/4 of the cost for a supercharger delivering 120+ HP. It would be interesting if they could make it in plastic for a reasonable cost.
