I know the issue has been beaten to death, but I still feel the need to express that the manual transmission is an integral part of the sports car experience. Even if DSG(or SMG) is faster, I would always choose the manual version. I realize that many of you disagree, but to each his own...

Well that is what I will do..but I already have a 997S with a Tip so I'm waiting for a better transmission to come out and I dream, hope and wish Porsche would come out with a clutchless transmission with a more racey charactoristic than what they have right now with the Tip.

For me I have no choice since I can not push a clutch pedal down anymore. but at least I can drive this style of a car!

Marc...it's not all about shift speed...it's about the visceral experience.

Yeah, groovy, dude.

There are those that like the 6 speed manual because it is fun to shift and they like to work on master the art of heel and toe. That is great and if that is what they want it certainly understand. None of us are pros and we all buy this car for fun so whatever is fun for you in the terms of options go for it.

Me...I have no choice anymore and must have some sort of transmission where I do not press a clutch pedal. I work on being smooth, driving the proper line and most of all braking.
