Laser jamming
Laser jamming
I've had great success with laser jamming in the past on other vehicles so I'm ordering a new unit for my C2S. I did a search but couldn't find anyone discussing the mounting placement/position of the transceivers. Has any one else on this board installed one? If so, where did you mount the transceivers to? I'm also contemplating putting one or two on the rear but I'm not sure I'll find a suitable position.
Any guidance appreciated,
Geoff

Well the front doesn't present a problem....pretty logical where they'd go there.
Are you aware of being hit from the rear?.......honestly I've never seen that. Not saying it wouldn't happen, but every instance I've encountered it's the guy out in front trained on oncoming traffic.

To be honest, I've only seen rear laser a couple of times, so it may not be worth the effort. As for the front placement I was more curious about how far inset people had installed them. Can you get away with pushing them as far back as they'll go?
What laser jammer really works? I tried a Radar jammer and it DO NOT work. I had a radar gun I used for boat racing and I bought a radar jammer. I had my wife out on the street with the radar gun and I came by a 40mph with the jammer on. The radar gun read the speed perfectly. I took the jammer back to the store and I went through 2 more radar jammers and none worked.
There is only one active Radar Jammer I know of that works .. and even that is highly illegal. The passive ones don't do anything .. they are usless.
As for Laser Jammers, I would highly suggest it.

Mishref is right. Passive radar jammers do NOT work. Since active ones are a federal felony to own/use it's probably better to eat the speeding ticket. Active laser jammers are very effective and are not illegal. They are governed by the FDA in the US, not sure up here is Canada. Laser is pretty much all we see up here now so the radar is pretty much a non-factor.
I used the Blinder system in my last car - no speeding tickets. There are other systems that work, but from what I've read just not as well.
Here is a review of the 3 major manufactures:

K40 makes a good jamming/detection suite. When I find a good installed in the area, I'll do it. For about $2K, you get a stealth laser diffuser, 360 degree radar detection, remote detector lights (they are on the steering column - 2 small LEDs). Give me a sec and I'll post the link...

Chris, those stealthy detector lights are awesome. Thanks for the link. If you ever get it done post some pics of the install, I'd love to see it.
When it comes to radar detection the only detector I know of that is 100% undetectable (from VG2, Spectre and MD-3) even at point-blank range is the Bel STi Driver. This is really important important for me because they are illegal here.

If you look through that link they test the major detectors (unfortunately they don't test the K40) against the two major DD's and a new prototype that is going into production. The STi is the only one that fully defeats all 3 point-blank.

Personally, I can't vouch for a specific instance where it worked/didn't work. Just what they have told me (and I have no reason to doubt them).
I have no experience with Lidatek, but I've heard it's good as well. I think a combination of devices (laser defeat/diffuse, radar detect, etc.) is the best solution. It just gets more complicated and more expensive...
