radar detection through 997 window

I am taking delivery of a Targa C4s in about 2 weeks. I have been told by Valentine and some other blogs that the lead in these windshields will decrease the sensitivity if radar and laser detection to the point of being useless. The custom installers are recommending a grill or bumper installation. I have had many porsches in the past and have had no problem with window mount radar detection. I don't plan to speed but it is difficult not to attract attention and difficult to keep the car in, say 55mph, and not 70mph. You just have to almost do it on purpose. Do others have difficulty with radar detection with the 997 windshield.
I plan to get a Valentine1 -maybe by an radar gun and test it myself. Thanks
for the feed back.

I have not heard of this. I had my V1 in a 05 997 visor mounted, and didn't seem to notice any loss of performance/range.

I doubt it, you can check out the V1 faq on their web page. If not, you can try to ask Mike Valentine himself, he is a member over on the rennlist boards. He posts frequently on the CGT forum there.

FWIW- I've never had a problem with it..

It's not a problem for V1, don't know about other brands.

I know people with the V1 mounted either on the windshield or in the rear who are still thrilled by it's capabilities, I wouldn't worry.

No problem with me either it is visor mounted on the 997, my x5, and my Range Rover.

It has paid for itself hundreds of times over.

My V1 has excellent detection abilities. I'm amazed at how much warning time I have with many cops out there today.
