i have the perfect answer.
i was considering many cars. i drove the Porsche only saying to myself it's over rated bla bla bla. once i drive it i will see it's not worth it.
but guess what, after the test drive i was convinced that there is no substitute.

I enjoy driving (guess I could end this right there). I started doing track events about 5 years ago in an E46 M3. I wanted a more dedicated sports car that, hopefully, would be suitable for my kind of casual (DE) track events without a lot of expensive mods. The 997S seems to meet that objective, but I haven't yet had it on the track. I have my first event next weekend, so we'll see.

I drive this car because I have been dreaming my whole life to own one.
It isn't a status thing like some people around me think.
It isn't something to throw in the face of others.
It is because I love to drive and I have finally reached a point where I can afford one. Some of you are blessed and have many finer toys but this is my dream car.
Well, actually a Ferrari is but this is a close second.
I don't drive to movie theaters and cringe when I have to go to a mall or grocery store.
It eats me up inside to park this at the college when I take my classes for fear that it will be there or in one piece when I come out.
I drive it in the rain only because it handles the rain better than any other car I have had. That and the fact that it rains without warning here in Texas!
I drive it because I can. I have nothing else to prove to anyone.

I refuse to pay that much to park a car, I will park it myself, I would rather spen an extra 5 minutes looking for a spot. Never a Garage Queen, that would be sad. Manual in Traffic, it's already second nature, I don't notice it. Maintenance-you know what your getting into. If one can't afford it one shouldn't get it. As far as Top down, i only have it up if it's raining or cold, other wise it's down, to hell with the female in the right seat.
Great experience driving one, puts a smile on my face every time!!
I drive a M3 now...nothing wrong with driving a M3. I love my M3..wish I could keep both.

Every friend of mine that has actually driven a Porsche 911 loves it... I find that the "haters" are ones who have never actually DRIVEN it, they just "heard from some guy".

A lot of my Evo friends give me crap because their cars can spank me, but then I let them drive it and they want to trade... LOL

I could care less about the jealous/hateful looks I get from other drivers. The most important look is when I catch myself smiling in the rear view mirror...

I drive a porsche because I care about all of you who drive Porsche's. I'm trying to help the community break the stereotype that if you drive a expensive sports car (Porsche in this case) that you must have a small *****.

Consider the Stereotype BROKEN!

You guys can thank me later.

Most of those things you mentioned don't apply to me

I drive it every day, even in the rain. Take her wherever, even to the Bronx (scary.) It's easy as heck to drive in traffic due to the hydraulically assisted clutch and shift cable.

I hate passengers in my car as well. I'm gonna take my passenger seat out and make people stand up if they want to ride in my car. Should discourage them enough.

Oh, and I have to keep one eye out for the cops no matter what car I'm driving !

It's the best, plain and simple. Nothing excites me more. The history, the feel. It's been the most consistent car company in the world IMO. I love it!!! It's my passion, hobby and career. : )

Maybe a better question is...what would you drive if you couldn't drive a Porsche?

Uhh...

Tough one.
