Air vent clips

Has anyone else had a problem with clips in the air con vents on 997 falling out?
I have had two come out and I can only point the air up and down. I bought the car with 7k from new and the dealer tells me that at some point the dash must have been pulled out and then reinstalled badly.....!!
Why would you need to pull the dash? Can't you get to everything from underneath!!
Any info appreciated.

I have a 2005 and had the same problem with the vents on top of the radio. The small metal clips fell out and so did small pieces of the plastic. This is part of the assembly that lets you adjust the up/down and side to side angles of the vents. The dealer replaced the assemblies under warranty, of course. If you have the same issue, it seems both unlikely and irrelevant that the dash may have been removed. Just get it replaced/fixed. Hopefully, your car is still under factory warranty.

Yep,

Mine is an 05' as well and the dealer tells me that you need to pull the dash to reinstall them. I was hoping this wasn't going to be necessary.
Has anyone elso experienced this problem? Any easy solutions? Other than sticking a pen in the slot to redirect the flow, my most successful method so far.

If the air vent adjusting pieces are broken, which I've seen several times, both center vents and side vents, its just a matter of getting them replaced under warranty, they are pretty simple to replace, shouldn't take someone more than 15 or so minutes, drop it off and hang out for a few while they replace them.
