my cayman s started to make a similar brake noise at 4k miles. i took it in and the service guys said it was b/c my rotors have a slight glaze on them and that i need to get on the brakes hard every so often. they still do it but i have not been able to bring it back to dealer.

so far the hard braking has not stopped the brake noise at slow speeds. irritating. i have been accused of nursing the brakes for the first few months of ownership. but, it still seems like they should not make the noise.

Had this problem on a few MB's, the only solution was to change out the rotors. Better bring the car back to the dealer asap, as the less miles the more willing they'll be to replace the rotors.

Help Fellow members,
I have an 07 GT3 with 900miles and the break make this very annoying squeal when backing up (reversing) and sometimes when slowing down from about 60MPH. Very annoying noise/squeal when reversing is NOT good omen in a thoroughbred and outstanding $100K car. Any help/suggestions/solution direction will be appreciated. Thanks.

In the absense of PCCB I would follow the above advice.

The clunk could be a loose strut or sway bar as my 997S recently had a clunk coming from the psngr front when applying the brakes at lower speeds which was due to a loose strut (apparently a common 997 issue). The only way I've found to really cure the brake squeal is with new rotors and pads. If your car is new with less than +/-2000 miles I'd ask your dealer to intervine w/ Porsche NA for some new brakes.
