Track experience with PSS9s for PASM
Track experience with PSS9s for PASM
Hey men,
OK. I'm trying to come at this how I would want someone else to come at it. I've had a ton of PMs asking me about my time on the track with the new coilover setup.
So, first of all, I'm a decent driver, but I tend to turn in too early on tight turns. The car would normally push a bit on me if I wasn't concentrating too well... until I kick the back out. Anyways, I have a 997S with the EVO SC kit, ran it with the stock 19s and some Michelin Pilot Sport Cups... pretty gummy. They were new. I've got all the accompanying power stuff... exhaust, headers, etc. So now I've got the PSS9s for the PASM. Without the PASM, you can manually adjust it like 9 ways or so for compression and rebound. However, with the PASM kit, it's either in normal or Sport. There's a big difference, but the normal is still quite firm. I actually liked it better in normal though on this track. We ran at Carolina Motorsport Park in Kershaw, SC. It's a sandy track, and is quite technical. Something around 2 miles, and decent times are in the 1:50s. 3 of the 4 'straights' that I can hit the limiter in 4th on (118mph). I boiled my brake fluid a few times, once REALLY scary. The good stuff's going in now. The suspension is incredible upon HARD braking. I stood on those brakes, and it stayed perfectly in line, even during trail braking. My instructor, from the passenger seat, told me over and over how impressed he was with them. Cool stuff. I really suggest them IF AND ONLY IF you track your car OR you live in the mountains and drive them hard. They are only worth getting if you qualify here. My opinion. They ain't cheap, Normal ain't normal, but they fully change the car if you drive it like you stole it. Those are my thoughts. Hope they help some of you.

I haven't tried others on the track, so I can't compare. I like them though. I'm a freak. I just decided one day that I liked the way the car looked like it is now, stock with the carbon lip and carbon mirrors. If anyone wants the Cargraphic stuff, I'll let it go mondo cheap. By the way, V35, I ordered that diffuser online today. I think it will be perfect for the look I'm now going for. Thanks for that.
ohh nooo, I didnt even know it was you untill the post where it stated about your cargraphic stuff. You had the the overall best 997S on this forum. I really liked your cargraphic stuff, I guess its a matter of taste though.

Good info, thanks for posting. Mine are on the way some where and I've been anxious to hear how they are for both the everyday world and the track. Are the damping options adjustable at all to set the parameters for normal and sport?

I'm considering upgrading as well.
