Who makes the Japanese transmission for the Carrera and why do they outsource? C4S

 

I believe the manual transmission is made by Aisin (Japan)
The tip-tronic is made in Germany( I think by Mercedes )

Actually, most parts of the car are outsourced .
Porsche also does not tan leather or cast engine blocks, or make A/C compressors,radiators, body panels, rubber bumpers ,plastic castings,windshields,electrical wires,printed circuits,radios, CD and DVD players, Nav. systems , light bulbs ,batteries,gas tanks, mufflers, exhaust pipes,nuts and bolts, gaskets ,hoses , tires, wheels.......

and neither do most other car manufacturers.

They DO however specify the equipment and put it all together (and they do it very well) Lol

 

Aisin is responsible for most (If not all?) of the transmissions in Toyota's trucks.

I believe the 997 unit is the second one down.

 

I believe my Touareg had the aisin transmission too.
