AWE at 3k miles...

A while back I posted my thoughts on the AWE headers, cats, and mufflers I put on - that the sound was intoxicating. I thought you'd enjoy this story...

At Lime Rock on Thursday we were running an advanced only DE and so I was in the Black / Red (advanced solo / instructor) group. I was the only street car in the bunch - all race prepared Porsches. After one session the guys parked next to me (in a different run group so he could watch me) in the paddock say "Man, your car sounds AWEsome, what do you have in there... In fact, at full load in Main Straight yours was the loudest / best sounding car out there - but not loud in a bad way..."

My son ran a DE last Saturday and I was on video and captured some of his sessions - it really does sound fantastic. Deep tone, loud but not obnoxious. So my son (18) comes out of the Downhill, passes, one car, shifts to 4th (sounded great), passes his 2nd car, then his 3rd, then throws out the anchor at about 500, then I hear a beautiful blip on the throttle as he's still braking, then he trail brakes slightly into Big Bend, then I hear the power come back on. I was shocked - he's already got heel/toe down pat.

If anyone in the Northeast is heading to Watkins Glen on May 16-17 for Cups & Saucers, I'd be happy to demonstrate

Edited for spelling and clarification...

Gee thanks Ron!! I am really anxious to get my system installed and back on the road. I did install the EVO breather last week.... It's just a teaser

I guess demand exceeded supply and everything was on B/O for the month of April, while they scrambled to mfr new parts.
I was told they did just start shipping exhaust parts this past week and mine was to get shipped either yesterday or Monday!!!!! I still haven't received any confirmation or shipping tracking #'s from Mike at AWE...

"EDIT" a tracking number was just issued for my AWE system!! YIPPEEEEEEEEE!!! Now to get it, and put it on!!!

It sound like we both are in a same track, but I live in NorCal have my AWE system install over 6 months, I have the same reaction like your story on my last track. Mike @ AWE did an awesome job.

I agree 100% - AWE has the best sound on the 997S....I saw a cup car race recently and the sound reminded me of my car

Yep, with the proper amount of natural skill, and desire to learn and practice, it's possible. It was a great feeling when I began to smoothy and naturally heal/toe around the same age.

Note: Not trying to diminish the skills of Ron's son, but sharing my experiences and sense of accomplishment when experienced drivers and instructors comment on my footwork. I bet your son feels the same thing, Ron.
