Mods Help
At the risk of starting a war and beating this subject to death, can people give me advice/guidance on the following mods:
1. What will they actually accomplish
2. Which ones are more important than others
3. Which ones would you get if money was an object
Exhaust
Headers
Cats
ECU
CAI
Finally, which manufacturer do you recommend for the exhaust (most everyone recommends GIAC and EVOM for the ECU and CAI). And, please recommend a shop in Los Angeles or Orange County that will do the above.
Any comments are appreciated.

Can't answer without knowing what your goals are?
For me the only rational goal is performance - I could care less what something looks like or sounds like beyond stock. I could care less if anyone notices me or not.
So, here's what I've done and not done:
Headers, cats, and exhaust for lighter weight, performance gain, and sound level (need to hear what the engine is doing on the track at 145 and a helmet on).
Have not done CAI yet because I don't like oiled filters (there's a report that some Evoms are paper) due to past bad experiences with fouled MAFs. The CAI option I like is OEM X51 - double intake. Cost is about $2k.
ECU - that's a tough one... Part of me wants to try the REVO that Farnbacher has just to see what it does (no cost trial - 5 engine hours I believe). Another part of me doesn't want to touch the computer - just in case... With the Shark Injector on my M3, it was invisible and you had the module so in 10 minutes I could remove the Shark, go for service, re-install.
I personally would not do just the exhaust - ligher, louder, but nominal gain at best because of the restriction of the headers and cats. For me it was an "all or nothing" proposition. I'm very happy with the AWE I got through the classifieds here (Mike even transferred the warranty because the set only had about 300 miles on it).
