997 GT3 Brake Ducts fit 997S
997 GT3 Brake Ducts fit 997S
Just finished putting a set of 997 GT3 brake ducts on my '06 997S. They are a direct fit. Just snap on the control arm without any cutting or fitting like the 996 GT3 ducts.
I had ordered a set of 996 ducts from Suncoast Porsche in February, but found out on this forum that they would not fit without trimming the duct or the wheel-well liner. They also hang down further than anything else so can be torn off easier.
So I returned them to Suncoast for a refund of the $247 I paid. That's when Rick Knabb at Suncoast told me they had just gotten the 997 GT3 ducts in and tried them on a 997 and 997S. They were a direct fit, and get this.....only $30 a pair. Thats Porsche's price. Not a discount price.
Well of course I said send me a pair, and Rick was right...a direct fit on the control arm, and much more of a "cup" design for grabbing the air. They don't extend down much further than stock, but are firmer and have more width to them. Really hold onto the control arm.
I DE and was looking for a little more cooling for the brakes. This should help.
I didn't keep the part numbers or the ticket, but if you're interested, you can get to Rick at 877-923-1700 or www.e-partssales.com
I don't have any business connection with them other than ordering parts.
Cheers!

More cooling to the brakes...
I was one of the early ones that bought a set of the "other" GT3 ducts - the ones that the listings said "direct fit for 996 and 997..." It wasn't by a long shot. These are built for the 997 - perfect! I've got 997 GT3 control arms, so there's no doubt they will snap in easy
Won't make any difference for street driving, but on the track it will help keep the brakes a little cooler...

Sorry I didn't take any pics. I didn't even think to do that. But Rick said he was going to take some pics a couple of weeks ago when he mailed the ducts to me. Call him or email and he will send you some if he has them.
They are more substantial (less flexible) than stock and a lot more "cup" shaped. The stocks are really flat. thinner and feel like they would flex at high speed. So these should direct more air to the brakes and rotors. They are also longer horizontally. About the size and shape of a first baseman's mitt or a little longer.
