No brainer, unless you really like saying you drive a 911!
Uh, the CTR3 is built off a 911 floorplan with custom engine placement, bodywork, etc. It is NOT based on the Cayman.

Get a 2006 Cayman S - cost about $50k. use the ~$10k you save to buy a header/exhaust upgrade and Bilstein pss9 suspension. If you ever have an engine issue just swap back the headers and take it in. No warranty issue then.

Trust me, you will knock the pants of equal ability 2005 or 2006 Carrera drivers.
You get a better handling car (mid engine + PSS9 suspension) over the 997 carrera with near equal hp (Millteks add about 20hp).

There's a reason Ruf chose the Cayman for its new supercar.

I liket o say i drive a 911
the cayman has everything the 911 does except the history.
hence the 911 is more appealing to most people.
the cayman & cayman S are awesome cars. I will have it in my garage oneday.

my wife said the same thing. actually she "warned" me.

for today only, you can have it for 76K, then you can paint the car...

Thank you, let me rephrase: There's a reason Ruf chose the MID ENGINE LAYOUT for its new supercar.

The 911 rear-engine is an old concept - I agree they have done a GREAT job given the difficulties of such a rear-weight biased car. But it seems now they (along with Ruf) are making it better by moving the engine forward.

BTW i would gladly trade my Cayman S in for a GT3 but nothing less!

It's the only thing to do and the best suggestion

xenon standard on S but not on regular C2.
for me that would be deal breaker.

Raja,
i don't think the 08 will have the new updates including the new look but i'm 50/50 on it. maybe 09?

xenon, PASM, 19'' wheel, brakes etc. are standard on S. S is a much better buy.

Arling,

Yeah i know. but i am just being wishful. I finally put the order in for the S. if they come up with 08 1/2 model with dfi and leds then i will just have to mod it to compensate. :-)

Only time will tell. The 911 didn't have history when it was first introduced. Don't get me wrong because the 911 has been my dream car ever since I could remember, but when I drove the Cayman S the C2S didn't seem as much fun. My next car will be a 911 but probably a GT3 or Turbo but I won't be getting rid of my Cayman S.

I test drove the car again and I think I m going to go with Carrera... Cayman feels more like a toy car... but still was impressed with Cayman S. Thank you all for your comments...

I'd like the Cayman if it came in a convertible.

for a road car, get the carrera. has more usable space and the all important street cred./snob factor .

for the track get the cayman. much better balance the carrera.
