this is a timely thread...
I'm getting more conflicted by the day!
Just when I'd gotten past the notion of a Z06, today I drove a Cayman S; and damn it, the thing was fun.
Yes it was down on HP, but it was soooo fun to drive. Coming from running bikes on the track, this Cayman revved like a bike to me; and handled in a way that may be feel comfortable. The way I relate is that on my Aprilia's, it was on rails, and I could adjust in a corner, if need be: Cayman. On my Ducati, I could slid the rear in a turn if need be: 997.
I like the rails...
Got the Vette notion out of the system, so I'll stay with a P car; but now I have to decide between a Cayman S or 997...
I know little about modding a 997, and even less about Caymans.
I do have to say that the interior in the Cayman seems nicer than the 997...
I'll forward to how this thread develops!
Who ever thought that indecision would be fun?

No matter what, it is a Porsche. There is a LOT to be said about the differences in the handling of the two cars. Objectively speaking, the Cayman can, and does perform.
I'm not justifying because of an interest in the Cayman because the "prestige" is apparently whats at risk here, in the eyes of some.
I don't mean to come at you ggh, but I wanted to use your post as a question to get a grasp on a bit of anti-Cayman bias that "seems" to be floating around.

Don't worry about your comment, it did not offend me in anyways. However, I always believed since I was a child that a Porsche = 911 , that's my personal point of view ( I might be wrong). In other regards, I think that all P. models are unique and wouldn't mind to have one of each.
Cheers!

that's just me though.
I thought the Boxster was every bit as fun if not more than the Cayman and its cheaper and its a roadster.
That said, if you are looking for a road car I'd get the 911 hands down. If all you want to do is track days or weekend drives the Cayman or in my case the Boxster might get my attention.

with all due respect to the cayman S, which is an amazingly fun car to drive, when I think porsche, the first thing to come to mind is the 911...
i say get the 911, slap on an exaust, drop it, and you're set
who knows, you might get lucky and find a nice deal on a used super charger
