Valentine location

I just got the V1 and see that since it has rear radar/laser detection, location is important. How high can you mount it? Is it OK to mount it so it over the level of the rear view mirror and to the driver or passenger side? At that level will rear detection be compromised or should it be mounted lower. I've read that only the rear right side of the unit (1 inch) needs to be exposed so mounting infront of the mirror more towards the passenger side would be best but could not be concealed by flipping down the visor.

don't rely on this against laser. By the time it "detects" you're dead.

I've played around with location and left of the mirror is just fine with hard-wire ($50 by local dealer).

As for laser - I totally disagree with Chris - V1 has saved me many times against laser already. The officer doesn't just shoot you, he's shooting everyone. So I'm 3rd car in line to get lased and I don't even see him yet, but the V1 picks up stray light and goes off. I coast down and by the time he hits me, I'm just fine.

Will it help against you if you are the only car on the road? Probably not...

Point taken. My statement referred more to if you were the "target".

Higher the better.
I have V1s in 3 Pcars along with others.......below is fairly typical. If I had a 997 I'd so same.
I use remote & place it dead-ahead on column (or dash in 993) so all you have to do is drop your eyes down off road to get read.
Hard wire..........On w/every ignition.......no suction cups......barely visable outside the car.

I've got mine hardwired into the switched power above the rear view mirror.

After many thousands of miles with V1 protection, I can say also that the Laser detection will only save you if you are not the target. I've definitely received laser signals bouncing off of other target cars. If you are the target, the Laser detection merely informs you of a pending ticket.

I have it dead center in the windshield, if they're out to get you with laser, it's over!

if hardwired left or right of the rear view mirror. i don't have it hardwired so it'll be dead center below the mirror.

I have mine hardwired from the Fuse box, mounted to the left and above the mirror. I also put a remote display at the left hand side of the dash very close to the window.

This eliminates the illumination issue to LE at night or people following to close using you for bait.
