997 C4 or 2003 TT

The ride on my C2S improved noticeably when I took the stock Pirrelli's off and our Michelin's on. Night and Day improvement. Might have been the difference between the cars you tested. Just Guessing.
I was born in OH lived their approx 30 Years. live down South now and don't plan to ever move back. We have allot of great back roads and no frost and heave.
I had similar choice 4 months ago. A 2005 TT S pristine with 11000 miles or what I eventually bought which is a 07 Targa 4S.
My factors in decision were the extended service of the new car which includes the factor of body language when you bring a car to dealer you bought elsewhere.
The stability systems on the 997 models and not on the 996 models. I decided on the glass roof and the hatchback style. That being said if I had the choice to make now I would go with a 07 TT.
By the time I added all the extras, sport exhaust, chrono, special paint, bose sound the cost was just about 20k less then the new TT. I love the targa 4S but would like the extra boost of the turbo. I drove a 2003 turbo on test drive and then a 997 C2S and I thought the C2S was actually more fun and drove better. I think that made my final decision on not going with a 996model turbo.

Hey men… here is my story. I save money for 7 years to reach my goal, a TT P-car. At the moment I went to purchase my P-car this is what happened: I test drive a 996 TT once and that’s all it took, I was hooked. So after saving money for so lonf I decided I couldn’t hold any longer so I started looking.
And this was my dilemma… since I’m not like few of my friends here at 6speed that jumps and money comes out of their butt, I had to make the wisest/smartest decision which it was to purchase the best car for the money.
I was going to invest in a 2003 996 TT x50 with 32k miles on it. Beautiful car, so fast that my testisss… were stuck to the back of the seat when I finished the test drive
. BUT!!!! I didn’t know the first two owners; the warranty had an expiration date of 6/07, just 4 month left. And not being a wealthy person that can’t afford any mayor repairs I end up investing in a 2006 C4 with 7k miles on it, newer car with warranty until 2k10, was lowered by the first and only owner which I spoke with, yellow power coated calipers, fabspeed exhaust system, springs, etc… all done by Champion Porsche in Boca Raton so the warranty won’t be affected.
So… here is my advice. I you don’t know the previous owner/s go with the C4. But, if you know the previous owners AND have $ for near future repairs because the warranty has expired. Go with the 996 TT.
Good Luck, let us know what you end up investing on.

Thanks again fellas! I'm leaning more towards a 997 C2S now and plan on test driving one this weekend.
If anyone knows of a good deal on one in Silver or Grey in the Socal area, please let me know.

Good choice. The TT was a great car and is slightly faster than a C2S but the speed difference is slight and there is only so fast you can go legally anyway.
THe 997 has in my opinion better looks and even more importantly the cabin quality was vastly superior. I would go C2S everytime if I was choosing and both cars were in the smae price range.

I think I may have found a C2S and wanted to run price by you all before I made an offer. The car is an 05 in Arctic Silver ~20K miles and no other options except that it is an S model and it still has factory warranty left on it (BTW, are the factory warranty's transferrable between private parties?). If transferrable, the warranty is the selling point. But the fact that there are no other options on the car makes me wonder what a fair price would be. The seller is asking for $65K.
Thanks again for any advice.

Maybe I should've said, other than the standard options, the seller chose no additional options (i.e, PSE, Adaptive Seats, Chrono, Full Leather, NAV, etc.) From what I saw, it was pretty standard feature-wise other than the S designation. I like the car and would like to make an offer, however, it just seemed odd that one spend the money on a Porsche, an S model at that and then not want any other amenities. I was hoping to hear from current 997 owners and anyone that has recently made a purchase as to what would seem fair.
